Fun For The Upcoming Holidays...

So, I'm on a RaoK crochet group, and two of the things I've come across this past week were small little crocheted items, and I took a couple of afternoons and whipped up these cute little Shamrock Lucky Penny holders first. I am really liking the way they turn out, with the little penny inside shining out. Not sure it turns up too well in the photos, but irl they look great! Here's the Ravelry link to the Lucky Penny! Take a look at all of Pan's patterns while you're there!  There are a lot of really cute little things to make!

The note that goes with them from the RaoK group says, "May your blessings outnumber the shamrocks that grow, and may trouble avoid you, wherever you go!" An alternate saying is, "Many times in life you just need a little luck, if the path you're on is bumpy, or you're simply feeling stuck, when you're up against a challenge, or have something big to face, this lucky little penny, may be you saving grace!" I'm going to be handing these out all over the place the week of St Patrick's Day!!! My dad was a St Patrick's day baby, and somehow it's always seemed like a little Irish luck to me. We're all Irish on St Patty's day, amirite???

And then this little bunny showed up in my feed, and man oh man, did this work up quick!!! I remember trying the spiral before on other things and I just couldn't figure it out, but now I've got the hang of it thanks to the graph I'm going to be making the hearts and the kitty cats and all the spiral things!!! This one is in bright orange and yellow. I think the next bunny I make will be in dark and light purples! So many combos! So many scraps to use up!

I have more to post soon. There's a couple of blankets I'm working on finishing off, and then I need a day with good light to get some pics! Hope everyone is staying warm and toasty! ✌

On the Needles...

On my desk today, I'm working on baby booties, and Amigurumi Ba-Bombs/F Bombs. Last night I got eight little bombs made while watching shows, and today I just have to crochet the caps and fuses. 😁 I'm thinking of needle felting the F's and babomb faces on them.

Then this morning when I was looking around for things to clear out of here, I noticed a bag of baby hats and booties that need the ends woven in. So, I started working on that also. I think I'm going to split the lot of them up into two or three packages, and send them off by the end of the week.

Slowly working on decluttering and emptying yarn bins also. I have two huge stacks of granny squares, so be prepared for layout pictures as I get all of them sorted out, and put into blankets, or lapghans! Gotta get it done before this cool weather starts to warm up! I am really enjoying two other blankets that I've been working on while it's been in the teens and twenties outside. Really takes the chill off while being productive at the same time. Win win for me!!!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful week! ✌

Knitting and Weaving

So a few weeks back I cast off this lovely new scarf! Whenever my little scraps of yarn take over more than one pretzel bucket, I start working on these. Cast on 50 stitches on a circ needle, and just knit until I run out of the small ball of yarn, and then add another, and another. I think the biggest ball was just a little bigger than a golf ball, and none of them made more than 15 rows of knitting. No ends to weave in, because they're all on the inside. I do knot off each area when I start a new ball of yarn, so nothing will come loose. Knit on it until its around four to five feet long, and cast off and sew up both ends. I've started another one this week now that this one is done. Most years now I can make two scarves out of my left overs from hat making.

And another thing I am working on... In January I purchased myself the Hazel Rose Looms that are fine set for weaving with baby weight and sock weight yarns!  Let me tell you, I neeeeeeeeded this soooo much! The regular looms I use with worsted weight and bulky weight yarns, and they take so little yarn to weave a square or triangle. I think something like 20 yards of yarn to make a 7 inch square! So just another way to either use up scraps or make an entire lightweight blanket or shawl out of just a skein or two of yarn. My goal this year is to weave at least one or two squares, triangles, or hearts every day on my Hazel Looms! So far I haven't missed a day, so I already have about 15 squares and a half dozen hearts of both sizes.

And in some fun Amigurumi... I made my oldest daughter a few of these F bombs. 😂 I saw this online and the lady was making both F bombs for adults she knew, and Ba-Bombs from Mario for her kiddo's to play with.

After a long week, today, I am just working on some adult hats that were already on the needles. I just need a few days of mind numbing knitting that I can pick up and put down on the fly. Hope everyone is having a good week of craftiness!!! ✌

Crocheting things

So, last year I worked on using up a lot of  my scrap yarn making scrappy granny squares, and also I joined the Jayda in Stitches challenge on Youtube to make a Mighty Mile a Minute blanket. I made many many mile a minute strips, and also kept up with the challenge of one new pattern a month, and put together the actual blanket by the end of the year! Here is a small picture of the last of it (I'll get a full picture soon)...

Now I have two totes with just a bunch of mile a minute panels from my favorite two mile a minute patterns from the year. I will get those hooked together and posted soon. I also have two BIG totes of the granny squares to put together. I think I can get a couple of queen size bed spreads out of all of them.

Right now, I am working on un-stuffing my finished projects bags! It feels like I have been stuck for a few years, and I do enjoy making more and more things... but sadly, I have not been sending much of it out. Some because of the pandemic, but also because I am just lousy at getting things addressed and packed up. But I have gotten the ends woven in on lots of hats and mitts, and sent some off to a couple of places, and then gave gobs of them away to a local place that helps the homeless in my area.  Here is what was given in November and December, and I still have a bit left to do. Luckily winter isn't over yet!

And here's a bit of some fun I had during the holidays. My daughter found a place locally that I could sell some gnomes, and other amigurumi things we had both made.  It was so wonderful to have some local feedback about these, and that's also what kind of got me wishing I had a blog again. So I had been making these little gnomes all through the Fall last year, and then Halloween came around and I started making some cauldrons for them too. 😁

And here's some more things that I have made for a RaoK group that I've joined. Yep, they will all be left around town for people to just find and hopefully brighten their day!

And so, this blog begins!!!✌

New beginnings!!!

After a five-ish year break from regular blogging, here we go!!!  I feel the need to share the things I am working on. I totally miss inspiring others, and getting feedback from other people besides my immediate family. It's taken me a bit to get into my groove for 2022, and I just don't do the whole New Year Resolution thing, ever. But jumping in where I'm at, and going with the flow feels about right. Not really caring if people who used to follow my other blogs on Xanga and Wordpress follow me here. Be kind, and you can hang out, all others will be zoned out. ✌

Making Cording

Since my fall I haven't been able to do too much of any crafting, because of the aches and pains and bruising. Truly, I've just been...
